Build your own RC car
Dashy is a remote-control car you build yourself. Motors, circuit board, wheels and casing: you put it all together with your own hands. No soldering and no experience needed. The screwdriver is in the box.
Drive it forward, backward, left or right
Pair Dashy with the controller you built, set up an obstacle course on the living-room floor, and take the corners. Ready, set, dash!

Learn how radio control works
Press a button and a radio signal flies to Dashy's antenna. The circuit board decodes it and starts the motors. It's the same idea that helps steer drones and satellites.
One controller, two robots
The controller you build is universal. Use it to drive Dashy or Skitter, our DIY walking bug. Already have a Skitter? Its controller runs Dashy too.

You'll see how an RC car works from the inside: how the controller sends radio signals, how the receiver and circuit board understand them, and how motors turn them into motion. The booklet also tells the story of radio control, from Nikola Tesla's radio boat to today's drones.
Dashy is made for ages 7+ and for first-time builders. Kids should build with an adult nearby, and younger builders may need help with the screwdriver and small parts. Not suitable for children under 3.
No. Dashy is designed for complete beginners, so you don't need to be a "tech genius". Follow the illustrated steps and you'll soon be holding a working car you built yourself.
Everything you need to build Dashy is in the box, including a screwdriver. No soldering is needed. The only thing you have to add is batteries.
No. Dashy needs 3 alkaline AAA batteries (LR03, 1.5 V) and the controller needs 1 CR2032 coin battery (3 V). Neither is included, so grab them before gift day!
Most first-time builders finish Dashy and its controller in about 45 minutes. That's one sitting, and then it's race time!
Yes! The controller you build is universal. It drives Dashy and Skitter, our DIY walking bug. It works the other way too: a Skitter controller runs Dashy. Just press the pairing button on the one you want to drive. One at a time, just switch by pairing.
