During the game you will try to balance between:

Damaging your opponent's robots or protecting your own with side effects.
Building component combinations to upgrade and activate your robots' powerful abilities.

Setting it Up

  1. Choose 3 robots to play with and place them on the board in front of you with their basic sides up. Make sure that you have at least 1 robot with an action ability.
  2. Create your deck by adding:
1 faction card for each robot, matching their color.
5 component cards for each robot, with components matching the components required for upgrading said robot.
  3. Shuffle your deck and place it face down near your robots. Your play area should look like this:

Player Turn

Each player draws 3 cards at the beginning of the game and the youngest player goes first. On your turn you will do the following:

  1. 1Play a card from your hand by putting it in the middle of the board.
  2. 2If your hand is empty, draw 2 cards from your deck.
  3. 3Starting from the top, perform all side effects except for Shields.
  4. 4Attach the component card to any 1 of your robots by tucking the card beneath it so that only Shields and components can be seen.
  5. 5If possible, upgrade or activate a robot.
  6. 6Discard any attached component cards from your robots that you deem unnecessary.

No cards in your deck?

Shuffle your discard pile and use it as your new deck.

Life Points

Each robot begins the game with 10 life points. You can track a robot's life points directly on its card using a common household item, such as a paper clip. If the tracker needs to go below 1, the robot is removed from the game.

Component Cards

Side effects can be found on the left of each faction and component card.

Components:

Effects:

ShieldSHIELD

After other side effects are performed, attach the card with a shield to a robot. When this robot is attacked you may choose to spend a shield to negate 1 point of damage. To spend a shield tuck the card further to fully conceal it. If all shields are spent on a card, discard it.

DamageDAMAGE

Select an opponent's robot as the target. The robot's owner may either spend a shield from the robot or reduce its life points by 1 for each damage dealt. All damage from 1 card targets only 1 robot.

DrawDRAW

Draw 1 card from your deck. If this was the last card in your hand, draw 2 cards because your hand was empty, and then draw another card for this side effect.

PlayPLAY

Play another card from your hand.

RepairREPAIR

Choose one of your robots and increase its life points by 1 by sliding the paper clip up the track. The clip cannot go above 10.

TauntTAUNT

While attached to a robot, opponents may only target that robot. Actions that deal damage to all robots are not affected by taunt. If multiple robots of the same player have taunt attached, then the opponents may choose a target between them.

BreakBREAK

Select an opponent's robot as a target. Select a card attached to the targeted robot to discard it. You must select a robot with taunt if any has it.

BlindBLIND

An opponent has to discard 1 card from their hand.

OptimiseOPTIMISE

Optimise can be used instead of any component.

Faction Cards

Wacky Robots are divided into 5 factions: Intellicorp, Luminobots, Mechanicon, Rayforge, and Synthicate.

Each faction has its own color, which matches the color on the robot cards, making it easy for kids to recognize and collect their favorites!
