The Butter Bot robot unit comes fully pre-assembled and ready to use out of the box. However, the kit includes a set of DIY expansion modules and a controller that allow you to customize the hardware, making it a perfect blend of a ready-to-run gadget and a maker experience.
The kit includes 6 "Hot-Swap" expansion modules that instantly upgrade the robot's abilities: a Gas Sensor (air quality), Motion Sensor (security), LED Module (light shows), Temperature & Humidity Sensor, IR Blaster (TV control), and a Perf Board for custom electronics projects.
Butter Bot connects to both iOS and Android devices via Bluetooth. Once paired, it acts as a smart assistant: it can read your push notifications aloud, check your phone's battery status, and control music playback (play/pause/skip) using voice commands.
Yes! Butter Bot is built on open-source hardware and software. Beginners can use CircuitBlocks (a visual block-based coding interface) to customize its behavior, voice lines, and reactions. Advanced users can dive into C++ to modify the AI and firmware directly.
You can control Butter Bot in three ways: 1) Using voice commands (e.g., "Pass the butter"), 2) Using the included physical Remote Controller which features a live video feed screen, joystick, and action buttons, or 3) Through autonomous mode where it explores on its own.
The main Butter Bot robot has a built-in rechargeable battery that charges via a standard USB-C cable (included). The separate Remote Controller requires 3x AA alkaline batteries, which are not included in the box.
